Hi,

Just got another bogus job site today. Powerjobapp.com sent me a job listing. I just needed to fill out their online application. I went and checked it out, used one of my junk e-mail addresses, and walked through their sign up. Just like Veriresume.

The kicker...when I finished the final page thanked me for submitting with VERIRESUME! Ah, another incarnation.

I'm stupid...I uploaded my resume on their site...I realized it's a scam on the next page of it...are there any reports about what they did after gathering our info ?

Thanks for the tip off. I received an e-mail today from powerjobapp.com telling me:

"The qualifications and experiences you\'ve listed on your resume prompted me to contact you regarding an available position we are attempting to fill for a client. PepsiCo. is looking for a SeniorAccountant and I feel that you may have the attributes they are seeking."

PepsiCo is a real business. When I went to their web page and looked in their careers section, I discovered that there was nothing listed for this position. I\'m to the point that I don\'t respond to these e-mails unless it\'s someone I\'ve e-mailed my resume directly to.

This is the second email i received from them. Im tired of this spam. Is there a way to report them to some authority.
Monster.com, hotjob.com, and all the big online job search sites are becoming heaven for spammers.

Unfortunately I fopund this in the Atlanta Journal Constitution and I also uploaded my resume. I didn't even think about it being a scam until I was all done. Oh well guess I'll know better next time.

I was wondering if anyone has received a real job offer after uploading a resume to Monster or Career Builder? The only "offers" I have received are from scammers. Is it worth it to keep a resume posted?

I had my resume up on all those job sites for a couple months, and like an idiot, I included my real mailing address...well, the minute I started getting a magazine subscription, I deleted all my resumes, took off all my information and yet I am STILL (3 months later) getting scam job emails every day. My advice, just go right for the temp employment agency...they're not going to try to scam you.

I am a recruiter for a Fortune 100 company and we use both Careerbuilder and Monster. Unfortunately I am also on the job market. I have registered with and uploaded my resume to both Careerbuilder and Monster. I am amaze at the volume of spam coming from those source. On the other hand I have had two companies contact me for interviews and have even made offers. They both found my information on Careerbuilder.

In addition as a recruiter I am searching the resume database everyday on these sites to find qualified candidates for my open positions. I will typically call people directly because I want to differ myself from the spamers. In some cases people do not give their contact information, so I have to send an e-mail to contact them. The response that I get from the e-mail is minimal. I assume, because people think I am part of a scam.

I think your biggest clue is that you look to make sure that the company matches the e-mail address. All major companies will have thier company name in the e-mail. Also, be very leary of a third party recruiter who will give you their clients name through e-mail. This is typically confidential information until you are deem qualified for the position.

I realized something was wrong after it asked me questions like do you want to study or start a business. I hope they dont misuse my information. I tried to remove by resubmitting false info, I dont know if that worked.

I have my current job because I have my resume posted on Monster.com. Our comapny also uses CareerBuilder. There are legitimate comapnies using these sites. I unfortunately, also fell for the VeriResume/PowerJobbapp.

I actually worked for VeriResume a couple years ago. Shortly after me and several other people started there we uncovered the truth about the "companie's" president. He was actually involved in Lou Pearlman's scam. So we all questioned him and some people immediately quit. I stayed a little longer and then realized it was totally a phishing scam. They make their money by getting you to agree to have a representative from several online colleges call you to discuss degree programs. There are no jobs.
