I am ashamed to admit I fell for this scam. I got money orders in the mail, and I don't have a bank account, so when I tried to cash them, I was turned away and told they were fake. What can I now do to protect myself? After reading everything on this website, I'm nervous about identity theft. I'm 21 and have few to zero asessts, no credit cards, and about 2000 dollars in debt. What should I do??

There are a few things you can do Shanti:

1. Check with local police dept. to see if they have someone who handles this type of fraud.

2. File report at ftc.gov and/or ic3.gov.

3. Check credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) and let them know this happened - they are sure to have encountered this before and may have some suggestions on how to watch out for attempts to steal your identity.

Sweet mother of Christ! I'm so broke it's not even funny. I'm in school, working 2 pt jobs that don't pay enough and so I thought, boy do i need some extra $$$. so I see a very similar ad but the person AKA is also Robert Greensdale (greenslade), and/or windowcollectibles@yahoo.com. This scuzz also sent me 2 money orders totalling $1814.41, I had to deposit them and wait for clearance. I was this past week called incessantly by my branch mgr who informed me that the $$$ is fraudulent and that my account has been frozen!!! PLEASE, BE CAREFUL. I'm going to work with them to hopefully save someone else from this loser. I will eventually have access to my acct, but imagine if I'd cashed the checks on the spot??? Legitimate work at home companies do exist! here's a few - www.vipdesk.com, ameriplan, prepaidlegal.com. I don't know of any others. BE CAREFUL...

I sent him my name and address and phone # only can he do anything with that info? It was on my resume that I sent him. not my social or bank anything though but I am way freaked out!
