We have a little secret to tell you. If you don't know this already, when you deposit a check in the bank in most of the continental US, they make the first $100 available to you whether it clears or not. If for some reason it doesn't clear, you're on the hook for it.

So when a mystery shopping offer tells us they will pay $100 per assignment and that you shouldn't worry because they won't ask you to purchase anything with your own money or send you checks, there's really no reason to feel better about them. Because if you spend that $100, you'll end up paying it back.

They have a Web site and they have corporate email, but it doesn't really tell you anything about them. There's nothing on them in the BBB either. Considering they want you to go through a criminal background check and pass an "identity check verification," we think they've got a lot of nerve not providing any details about their executive staff or attempting to legitimize themselves in the world in any way.

If it's a job you're after, mystery shoppers don't really make enough to live on anyway. Add the fact that it's a scam (and we believe it is based on the opening line alone), and we know you'll agree you have better things to do than waste your time on this.

Upon review of your resume, UTP Marketing is pleased to offer you the position of
Mystery Shopper.

UTP Marketing provides many major corporations with the direct and impartial
information they need to improve their products, services, and sales.?With over
25,000 Mystery Shoppers throughout North America we are one of the premier Market
Research companies on the continent.

At UTP Marketing we believe in making your new position as rewarding as
possible. We offer the highest pay rates of all of our competitors, as well as a
wide range of rewards, and benefit programs. Each week you will be given assignments
to complete. Each assignment consists of three transactions you will perform at
three different locations. Upon completion of each transaction, a Customer Service
Evaluation Form must be filled out. The C.S.E. forms must be accurate and complete.
Failure to submit complete forms will result in termination of employment.

Your position is probationary. Upon satisfactory completion of your first
three assignments it will become permanent. During the probation period you will be
paid $100.00 per assignment. During probation you will be able to schedule up to 8
assignments per week. Upon completion of the probation period you will be able to
schedule up to 20 assignments per week. The budget for each assignment will be
deposited into your bank account on the assignment date. You will never be asked to
